2025 National Specialty

This year’s specialty was held on August 24 in Maxville, Ontario (near Cornwall) in conjunction with the SD&G Dog show. There were 4 all breed shows, 5 all breed obedience trials, 7 all breed rally trials and 5 all breed agility trials. They also offered CGN testing, Trick Dog Testing and 2 Scent Detection trials.

As you can see there was something for everyone.

We decided to hold our dinner and raffle on Saturday since some of the people were leaving on Sunday. We hired a local caterer who provided us with barbecued chicken ka-bobs to complement the salads and desserts provided by the club.

Our sweeps judge was Heather Pedersen from British Columbia who had an entry of 4 puppies and 7 Veterans. Thanks to Heather for making the trip to judge for us. Heather graciously helped set up our prizes and ribbons for the National along with Liz Snider and Evelyn Miller.

Our judge for the National and Altered class was Laurent Pichard from Switzerland.

We had a great entry of 21 dogs in the regular class and 4 dogs in Altered who travelled from Ontario, Quebec, New York, New Jersey and Michigan.

We had one dog entered two days in Obedience owner by Marsha Dawson and one dog entered in two Rally trials owned by Karalee Bell. Both took High in Trials. Congrats!!

The show site was beautiful and well maintained with multiple vendors which also included a food truck which served breakfast as well as hamburgs, hotdogs, pulled pork and french fries and our favorite poutine. There was also a lemonade stand.

Four of us chose to rent trailers from Rvezy. They were delivered to the site and set up. On Monday they arrived to take it away. It was perfect and allowed us to stay on site.

I would like to thank all the people that attended our Specialty and helped support the club.

Special thanks to Rheal Morin, Liz Snider, and Naomi Katsumi who worked behind the scenes to make this happen and all the others who stepped forward to help put up tents for grooming, serve food and sell raffle tickets. A special thanks to Madeline Chicoine our young photographer who did a great job.

It was a wonderful weekend!!
